From NY to ATL via HGTV

Yes this is a true story if you can believe it. Picture a sagittarian couple from NY sitting in their apartment and watching an episode of HGTV. This particular episode took place in Atlanta GA. We were both drooling over the beautiful houses and the rock bottom prices. She turns to me and asks “Would you move to Atlanta?” I replied “To get a house like that I would”. I asked her the same question and her response was the same. Being the sagittarian risk takers that we are,we  decided it was time to leave NY to explore new opportunities and to take advantage of a better quality of life. 7 months later we are pulling up in front of our newly purchased home in Atlanta GA. My goodness, what did we just do? Well now our new southern adventure begins. Our biggest concern on finding the proper home down here was exactly what room we could set up the studio in. Everything else was secondary. Yes I have a very cool wife 🙂 After deciding on that room, we still had the task of finishing up her album “Evolve” at the time. Mind you we were still in a ton of moving boxes and scared to death not knowing a soul down here. As we were unpacking, I had to sort out which spare bedroom i would be using as a temporary mixing space to finish mixing her unfinished album. I set up my computer and a pair of monitors and threw up some temporary room treatment. Imagine having to mix a record in a room that you are not used to mixing in. I have never been thrown in a situation like that and there was no time to complain. We had about 2 weeks to get everything done and off to mastering. Needless to say, we got it done.”Ragan Whiteside’s “Evolve” came out and was very well received.*whew if they only knew*.I can now look back at that moment and chuckle to myself that I was able to finish up an album in a strange environment before I was ever able to find out what moving box contained my underwear. Love this audio business!
